In 1909, Victor S. Johnson incorporated the Mantle Lamp Company of America, and selected the name Aladdin for a trade mark. Oil burning antique Aladdin lamps were marketed in 1912. Early antique Aladdin lamps were brass and nickel plated. Glass fonts in attractive colors and patterns were made in the early 1930's. The antique Aladdin electric lamps also began production in the early 1930's. Many other glass products and accessories for antique Aladdin lamps were added right up to the early 1950's. Aladdin's best known glass was introduced in 1939, and named Alacite. It was produced in only one color - Old Ivory.
